Happy Today!
And HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Chuck Norris!
Yeah, he is 86 years old (young) today. He will likely light his birthday cake candles with a blowtorch and blow them out with a flick of his little finger.
It is said the tears of Chuck Norris cure cancer. Only trouble is, he never cries.
And it ain’t true that Chuck never used stunt doubles. He did – but only for the kissing scenes.
Chuck has had a long innings, but spare a thought for the Grim Reaper, knocking on Chuck’s door.
CN: “Whaddaya want?”
GR: “Err…, Nothing. I just came to thank you for sending lots of business my way.”
CN: “It’s only a pleasure. Now, if you don’t mind, I have business of my own to attend to.”
GR: (Sigh) “OK, till later then.”
CN: “You better not come knocking again anytime soon or I’ll kick your ****.”
GR: “Yessir! Feel free to come over for a visit anytime you like!”
CN: (Bangs door shut.)
Jokes aside (sort of), how did Chuck manage to get this old? Really?
Muscle Mass
(OK, that’s the answer for guys. Ladies, scroll to the “Brain mass” section further down.)
Nobody argues with Chuck Norris about muscle mass. In fact, no one argues with Chuck Norris about ANYTHING (at least, not more than once…). The thing is, Chuck has been keeping fitter than most for longer than most.
After the age of 50, we begin losing muscle mass at the rate of one teaspoon of muscle every week. Losing it is easy – you don’t have to try. Keeping it or (harder still) regaining it is very, very difficult.
This process is called sarcopenia. Few people have ever heard the term, yet everyone over 60 suffers from it (except Chuck, of course).
A teaspoon of muscle doesn’t sound like much, but it adds up. By age 70, 5-6 kg of muscle may be permanently gone. That’s about 20% of the muscle mass you had at age 50. No wonder things happen slower at 70.
What can you do to stave off sarcopenia?
- Exercise at least 3 times a week (use it or lose it)
- Eat more animal protein every day (= building blocks for muscles)
- Eating One Meal A Day (OMAD) for 3-5 days of the week (gets rid of sickly muscle cells)
- Mega D3 (Vitamin D boosts muscle health)
- Cancer Bush Plus (Sutherlandia boosts muscle repair)
- Eterna GG (provides building blocks for testosterone / estrogen / energy)
Brain Mass
Growing older with strong muscles is only useful if you can keep your brain young, too. Your brain begins to shrink in your early 20’s already, but the rate of decline speeds up after age 60. By age 70, the brain volume may have shrunk 5-10% relative to peak size.
How do you stop your brain from shrinking? There are Dont’s and Do’s.
Dont’s
- Don’t smoke (reduces blood flow to the brain)
- Avoid sugar in your diet (increases inflammation in the brain)
- Don’t eat lots of carbohydrates (starches, grains)
- Avoid glyphosate (RoundUp) in your diet (damages proteins in the brain)
- Don’t watch television (brain goes numb)
Do’s
- Exercise (more blood flow to the brain)
- Eat more animal protein (building blocks for neurons)
- Regular breathing exercises (more oxygen to the brain)
- Mega D3 (reduces inflammation in the brain)
- Re-Mind / Re-Mind Plus (lithium makes new neurons grow)
- Omega-3 oil (reduces brain inflammation)
- Fulvic Acid (prevents toxin build-up in the brain)
Soul Mass
You’re not just brains and brawns. If you have nothing to live for, you will not live very long. You need some gravity in your soul to make it all worthwhile. Here are some psychological, social and spiritual actions scientifically linked to longevity:
- Marriage
- Regular attendance at a place of worship
- Fun and laughter with friends / family
- Barn dancing
- Interacting with small children
- Hobbies
- Caring for others
There you have it. The Chuck Norris Toolkit for a longer, healthier, happier life. Time to practise those roundhouse kicks…
