What’s Yellow And Dangerous?

Q: What’s yellow and dangerous?

A: Shark-infested custard.

OK, so not only was that a bad dad joke, it was an ancient bad dad joke. However, it does bring us to our topic today, which is VERY YELLOW (but not dangerous at all, quite the opposite).

Today, we’re officially launching our very own curcumin product! And not just any curcumin; this one is bio-enhanced with both liposomal and black pepper technology. In fact, so potent is our curcumin that a single capsule delivers as much curcumin to the body as a fist-sized portion of turmeric. Hard to believe, eh?

Curcumin is extracted from the tubers of the turmeric plant, a relative of ginger. It is regarded as the main therapeutic agent in turmeric (although there are other beneficial substances in turmeric root as well).

Let’s take a deeper dive into curcumin. Despite it being a powerful anti-inflammatory product, relatively few people have heard of it. Once you become interested in holistic health, you bump into it around every corner, of course. Some call it the “king of medicinal spices” and for good reason. To make it easier for you to cut through the clutter, we arranged the many known benefits of curcumin according to how strong the clinical evidence for its effects is.

1. Strong Clinical Evidence

1.1 Analgesic And Anti-inflammatory Effects
– Osteoarthritis: Pain relief comparable to NSAIDs
– Metabolic syndrome: Reduction in inflammatory markers

1.2 Antioxidant Activity
– Diabetes: Reduces oxidative stress
– Cardiovascular Disease: Reduces vascular endothelial damage and plaque formation

2. Moderate Clinical Evidence

2.1 Metabolic Benefits
– Blood glucose: Modestly reduces glucose levels in type 2 diabetes
– LDL and triglycerides: Reduces “bad” cholesterol and fats
– Body weight: Reduces fat mass and BMI in obesity

2.2 Cognitive Function
– Mild Cognitive Impairment: Improves memory and overall cognition
– Depression: Improves mood

2.3 Joint Health
– Rheumatoid arthritis: Relieves symptoms and joint damage

2.4 Migraines & Chronic Headaches
– Reduces the frequency, duration and severity of migraine attacks

3. Emerging/Preliminary Evidence

3.1 Cancer Prevention & Adjunct Therapy
– Curcumin blocks more than a dozen metabolic pathways inside cancer cells

3.2 Cardiovascular Protection
– Improves endothelial function, stops platelet aggregation inhibition, reduces lipid peroxidation
– Assists in post-MI recovery
– Prevents atherosclerosis

3.3 Gastrointestinal Health
– Protects the mucosal lining of the gut
– Improves gut microbiome balance
– Has anti-inflammatory effects in gastrointestinal tissue
– Reduces symptoms of ulcerative colitis and IBS

3.4 Neuro-protection
– Crosses the blood-brain barrier
– Reduces neuro-inflammation
– Reduces tau and amyloid deposits
– Improvements in Alzheimer’s Disease
– Improves symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease

But Is It Safe?

It’s one thing to be effective, but what about safety? It turns out that curcumin is extremely safe, with no serious side effects reported. Some folks may experience a transient stomach upset, but curcumin holds none of the dangers of NSAID-type painkillers, which may induce stomach ulcers.

High doses may interact with anticoagulants (like warfarin) and affect drug metabolism of these drugs.

So What’s The Catch?

Pretty impressive… The power of curcumin in treating pain and inflammation throughout the body is undeniable. However, curcumin has an Achilles heel: it is poorly absorbed from the gut. Typically, less than 1% is absorbed, and much of that is digested by the liver.

Fortunately, there are ways to improve this number. For one, black pepper, if taken with curcumin, increases its absorption by about 20x. Furthermore, black pepper reduces the amount of curcumin that is downgraded by the liver.

Secondly, liposomal forms of curcumin (where curcumin is surrounded by a little bubble of fats) increase availability between 10x and 50x.

By now, you know that Integrow Health brings you the best products in the best form. Yes, not only did we blanket the curcumin in liposomes to enhance absorption, we also added black pepper extract (piperine). The result is a product with very high potency.

You can further enhance this availability by taking our liposomal curcumin with some fatty food (like full-cream yoghurt).

What Dose Do I Need To Take?

A single one of our liposomal curcumin capsules is enough to unleash the full anti-inflammatory power in your body. If things are bad, a second capsule later in the day may be needed, but there is no need to take lots of oversized yellow capsules throughout the day, as is the case with standard curcumin products.

But that’s not all. Our liposomal curcumin is presented in vegi-caps, making them vegan-friendly. Everyone is welcome!
