One of Integrow Health’s oldest products is also one of its most unlikely.
We are talking about MiraClay (also commonly referred to as “miracle mud”). It is made from a very special clay found in South Africa’s mysterious Cedarberg Mountains. This clay has the remarkable property of speeding up wound healing.
When Doc Frank first discovered these properties in 2009, he was somewhat sceptical. How could soil heal wounds? Everything he had been taught about wound healing required a sterile environment. Microbes are the arch-enemy of wound healing. So, just to make sure, he added some antiseptic essential oils. He also suspended the clay in petroleum jelly, this being the carrier that was best suited to keeping the clay evenly distributed.
The resulting product was first tried on Doc Frank’s long-suffering children (no comment). Scratches, grazes, open wounds… All of these healed so rapidly that the kids came up with the name “miracle mud”. Even bruises would heal in double-quick time. The essential oils relieved pain in seconds, while the clay also stopped active bleeding. Soon, it proved to work well for bites (mostly insects, but some child-inflicted) and stings. In one instance, a wasp sting took 28 seconds to stop smarting. Bee stings also responded rapidly.
When someone in the household spilled a pot of boiling hot water on herself, the instant reaction was to cover the burn area in miracle mud, even though it had never been used for this purpose before. Even though it was a severe burn over a substantial area of skin, not even a blister formed. By the next day, the burnt skin looked completely normal again.
Doc Frank’s gob was smacked. He had never seen anything like this in his medical career.
At this point, a friend and colleague began using it in his practice, with equally dramatic results. Patients came flocking to the practice, asking for more. A number of patients had begun using it as a night cream on their facial wrinkles, with impressive results. MiraClay was born.
And so, in 2010, Doc Frank and his long-suffering children made the first batch of MiraClay. To this day, MiraClay is hand-made with love (although you may be relieved to know that Doc Frank’s kids have been set free from this task). Doc Frank is still deeply involved in the mixing of every batch, which takes three days to complete. This is both art and science, love and hard labour.
And when you hold a jar of MiraClay in your hands, you can feel the difference.
A 50 ml glass jar of MiraClay can last many months before it is finished. You only need a thin film of MiraClay on top of the affected skin area to see (and feel) the rapid results.
Having a pot of MiraClay in your emergency box is strongly advised. Keeping a pot in your handbag (assuming you have one) will make you a Very Popular Person at kiddies’ events. No home should be without a pot of MiraClay.
Here is what one happy user had to say:
“I love this product. It smells great and applies easily. The container will last me long, even if I use it daily. My skin is reacting beautifully to the clay. My whole family is using it, and I will recommend it to others.”
